Detroit Tigers’ Riley Greene Signs 4-Year Contract Extension, Commits to Long-Term Future
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene has signed a four-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2029 season. The extension underscores Greene’s commitment to the Tigers and their shared vision for the future.
Greene, 24, has emerged as a cornerstone of the Tigers’ offense since his MLB debut in 2022. In 2024, he earned his first All-Star selection, posting a career-high 137 games played with a .288 batting average, 11 home runs, and 37 RBIs. His consistent performance has been integral to the Tigers’ resurgence.
The decision to extend Greene comes as he approaches arbitration eligibility. By securing him for the next four years, the Tigers aim to maintain roster stability and continue building around their young talent. The extension is seen as a strategic move to ensure Greene’s presence during the team’s competitive window.
Greene expressed his enthusiasm about the extension, stating, “I’m incredibly grateful to the Tigers organization for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Detroit has become my second home, and I’m excited to continue growing with this team and this community. We have a lot of work to do, but I believe in what we’re building here and I’m committed to helping us achieve our goals.
