Tyrese Haliburton’s Clutch Heroics Propel Pacers to 2-0 Series Lead Over Cavaliers
In a thrilling Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton delivered a stunning performance that left fans ecstatic and head coach Rick Carlisle momentarily speechless. Haliburton’s buzzer-beating three-pointer secured a 120-119 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, giving the Pacers a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
The Pacers trailed by seven points with under a minute remaining, but Haliburton orchestrated a remarkable comeback. After missing a potential game-tying free throw, he grabbed his own rebound and, with just over a second left, sank a step-back three-pointer over defender Ty Jerome to clinch the win. Haliburton finished the game with 19 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, along with nine rebounds, four assists, and no turnovers.
Coach Carlisle praised Haliburton’s resilience and clutch performance, stating, “He’s just a special player. What he did tonight was extraordinary.”
The Pacers’ victory was further highlighted by strong contributions from Aaron Nesmith and Myles Turner, who each scored 23 points. Despite committing 18 turnovers and facing a deficit at the free-throw line, Indiana’s determination and Haliburton’s leadership proved decisive.
Haliburton’s playoff heroics have not gone unnoticed. NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal lauded his performance, calling him a “great player” and emphasizing his smart play.
As the series shifts to Indianapolis for Game 3, the Pacers aim to maintain their momentum and continue their pursuit of an Eastern Conference Finals berth. Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM PDT.
