Ducati’s Manager Davide Tardozzi reveals team Ducati’s verdict following Marc Marquez demands during meeting with board members…
In a recent revelation, Ducati’s team manager, Davide Tardozzi, shared the team’s stance regarding Marc Marquez’s potential move to the Italian manufacturer for the 2025 MotoGP season. Marquez, a six-time world champion, has reportedly made bold demands during a meeting with Ducati board members, which has sparked significant debate about his future with the team.
Tardozzi acknowledged that while Marquez remains one of the sport’s most talented riders, his demands for a potential contract have raised concerns within Ducati. The Spanish rider’s request for top-level guarantees, including a substantial level of team autonomy and significant control over bike development, was described as “jaw-dropping” by insiders. Ducati, known for its highly collaborative and team-driven approach to development, is reportedly not willing to concede such extreme terms.
The Italian squad, which has enjoyed immense success with riders like Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller, has built a strong, cohesive unit that thrives on mutual trust and shared responsibility. Marquez’s desire to have more control over technical and strategic decisions would not align with Ducati’s current philosophy, which places emphasis on team cohesion rather than individual dominance.
Despite his impressive career, Marquez’s past injuries and struggles with bike setups have made Ducati cautious. Tardozzi hinted that while discussions are ongoing, the team is not willing to compromise on its core values for one rider, no matter how decorated. As the 2024 season progresses, it seems increasingly unlikely that Marquez will join Ducati in 2025 unless significant adjustments are made to his demands. This leaves Marquez’s future in MotoGP hanging in the balance, with multiple options on the table.
