Marc Marquez rejected the Ducati agreement with provision that Jorge Martin had accepted.

A possible agreement between Ducati and Jorge Martin is said to have been destroyed by Marc Marquez because of a condition in the contract that affected him. Marquez’s spectacular Ducati U-turn has earned him the race for the official Ducati of 2025.Days before the Italian MotoGP, the Italian manufacturer had offered Martin the seat; but, after Marquez declined to choose Pramac, they were compelled to come up with a different strategy. Now that Martin has committed to Aprilia for the next season, it is official that Marquez will be joining the factory Ducati team.

Martin agreed to a deal last week that featured an interesting condition to race for Ducati’s factory squad in 2025, according to AS. Unless Marquez wins the MotoGP title this year, the provision said that Martin was the rightful owner of the much sought-after red bike. He may have agreed to those terms because he thought he might win the championship this year, something he was unable to do in Valencia the previous season. However, when Marquez abruptly dug in, that bargain was off the table.

It seems that the key to tipping the 2025 official bike back in his favor was his unwillingness to transfer to Pramac, who could provide a factory package and assistance. Just when it appeared like Martin might miss out on the coveted Ducati seat, he moved to formalize his move to Aprilia.
