Red Sox GM Theo Epstein Announce His Resignation from Sox and Further Explain His Decision

This season, there might not be as many “Sweetheart Caroline” choruses resounding from Fenway Park; this is likely due to the fact that a larger portion of the crowd at Red Sox games will not be familiar with the song as native Bostonians are.

Boston has been associated with baseball for a long time. Baseball is deeply ingrained in Bostonian culture, and Fenway Park is undoubtedly the city’s most famous relic. There’s always a cause to speak about the Boston Red Sox, whether it’s their newfound success over the last 20 years or the hurt of an 86-year title drought.

For a while now, the Patriots’ supremacy since 2000 has become the Red Sox New England’s second-favorite sports team; this cannot be understated or ignored. However, according to a Channel Media & Market Research study, the Red Sox and the Celtics are currently tied for second place as New England’s favorite sports club.

The Celtics’ popularity has increased to match that of the Sox’s decline. The Celtics have made several trips to the NBA Finals in the last ten years, and their 2024 campaign has been the best in the league.

Ownership is to blame for the Red Sox’s decline in popularity.
The Athletic’s polls reveal that Red Sox supporters have the fourth-worst, most negative attitude in Major League Baseball. just fans of the A’s, White Sox, and Rockies believe that their season has been worse than last, and just 12.2% of Red Sox supporters who were surveyed had a good opinion of the team.

To put that figure in context, after Boston’s surprise ALCS appearance in 2022, 88% of Red Sox supporters expressed optimism for the club, compared to 38.5% in 2023. This summer, the Los Angeles Angels lost Shohei Ohtani, who is rapidly establishing himself as one of the greatest baseball players of all time.
