Oilers May Have Been Considering a Different Trade for Adam Henrique

The Edmonton Oilers included Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick at this season’s NHL Exchange Due date from the Anaheim Ducks. GM Insight Holland gave up a first-round choose within the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional fifth-round choose within the 2025 NHL Draft, together with a fourth-round choose that went to Tampa Inlet so that 75% of Henriques compensation would be retained and 50% of Carrick’s would be secured. But, this wasn’t the primary exchange the Oilers had within the works for Henrique.

Concurring to Dennis Ruler (it isn’t clear this has been confirmed), the Oilers were working on a smaller deal as well. He notes that Edmonton might have obtained Henrique for a second-rounder and a third. This implied the Oilers might have held onto their first-round choose. Instep, to urge Carrick included (and at 50% held), the exchange was updated to incorporate the first-round choose. Lord moreover reports that the Oilers were inquisitive about Josh Brown— a right-shot defenseman from the Arizona Coyotes. Lord doesn’t indicate in case those two exchanges were at all connected or were to be partitioned exchanges. Carrick, who was a solid scratch on Sunday as the Oilers took on the Pittsburgh Penguins offers the Oilers profundity. That said, it can be contended he was not a key piece in that exchange. A few will say losing the first-round choose to add him wasn’t worth it. So as well, on the off chance that the Oilers still had that first-rounder to move, it’s difficult to know what else they seem have done.
