New Christian Horner statement released by FIA as pressure mounts on Red Bull

Regarding the internal inquiry into Christian Horner, the FIA has issued a statement in which they reaffirm their commitment to ‘upholding the highest standards of honesty, fairness and inclusivity’ in racing.

After a female Red Bull employee submitted charges of wrongdoing, the Red Bull team principal was placed under internal inquiry; nonetheless, Horner’s employment was not suspended.

In response, the FIA released a statement saying: “With regard to the independent investigation that Red Bull GMbH is presently conducting, the FIA reiterates that we will not be commenting more until the inquiry is complete and the results are known.

“The FIA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, fairness and inclusivity within the sport.”

Despite the uncertainty regarding his future, the Red Bull team principal was present at the RB20 launch event at the team’s Milton Keynes factory last Thursday, and he also plans to be present when pre-season testing gets underway in Bahrain on Wednesday.

Red Bull has not yet provided a timeline for when it hopes to wrap up the internal probe, but reporter Craig Slater of Sky Sports News suggests Horner would have to wait until after the season’s opening race at the end of February.

At the RB20 launch event, Horner was adamant when asked about his future, saying, “Look, I’m absolutely committed to this team.” As you’ve seen in some of the previous movies, I’ve been here from the start and developed this team. However, there have been highs and lows along the road.
