Oscar Piastri insists he doesn’t want to see one Formula 1 rival win the title in 2024
Before he began his second Formula 1 season, Oscar Piastri was a guest on The Fast and The Curious Podcast.
Iastri is against Hamilton winning the title in 2024.
It seems sense that Piastri isn’t too excited to see the seven-time world champion win an additional crown.
The 22-year-old feels he has a chance to be in the title discussion this year, even if he hasn’t technically won a Grand Prix (his Sprint Race triumph in Qatar doesn’t count).
He and Lando Norris were consistently vying for the top spot during the previous season after McLaren made some amazing improvements.
They started the season at the back of the grid in Bahrain and were only surpassed in points by Red Bull in the latter half.
Piastri will be hoping that McLaren’s commitment to winning races in 2024 will provide him an opportunity to face Lewis Hamilton on the racetrack on a regular basis.
Since the 39-year-old’s 2007 rookie campaign with the same squad, the Australian had the finest rookie performance.
The following year, he went on to win his first championship, and Piastri is targeting the same feat for this season.
Piastri lacks the time to properly stop the Hamilton-Mercedes collaboration.
“Wouldn’t it be incredible if Lewis Hamilton won [the title] again this year?” broadcaster Greg James posed to the young driver.
