In a sudden change to the NBA playoff schedule, the highly anticipated matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves has officially been rescheduled to Saturday, May 17, league officials announced this afternoon.
Originally slated for Wednesday, May 14, the game has been moved due to logistical conflicts at Chase Center, stemming from a previously booked large-scale concert that faced an unexpected postponement. The NBA released a statement confirming the change and emphasized that both teams were consulted before the decision was finalized.
“While we strive to maintain consistency in our playoff schedule, unforeseen circumstances required us to move the game to ensure the safety and availability of the venue for players, staff, and fans,” said NBA spokesperson Jordan Hensley.
This Western Conference playoff series has been drawing national attention, with both teams displaying elite form. The Warriors, led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, are battling to maintain their playoff dominance, while the Timberwolves, anchored by Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, are pushing to make their deepest playoff run in years.
The rescheduling could prove critical from a competitive standpoint. With the added days of rest, injured players from both teams, including Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins and Timberwolves guard Mike Conley, may have a chance to return to form.
Ticket holders for the original game date will be able to use the same tickets on May 17. Fans unable to attend can request a full refund through the Warriors’ official ticketing partner.
The NBA is expected to release an updated playoff calendar later today.
