Netflix Releases “The Underdog,” a Highly Anticipated Documentary About Dallas Cowboys Legacy on NFL— Slated for Release on..

Netflix has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated sports documentary The Underdog, chronicling the remarkable and often turbulent history of the Dallas Cowboys, one of the most iconic franchises in the NFL. The documentary is set to premiere globally on June 15.

The Underdog offers an intimate and unfiltered look at the Cowboys’ storied journey — from their early struggles to becoming “America’s Team,” their legendary Super Bowl runs, and the complex personalities that shaped the franchise both on and off the field. Featuring never-before-seen footage, candid interviews with players, coaches, owners, and lifelong fans, the film promises to reveal the untold stories behind the headlines.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jordan Meyers and produced in collaboration with NFL Films, The Underdog dives deep into pivotal moments in the team’s history, including the leadership of Tom Landry, the dynasties built in the 1990s under Jerry Jones, and the enduring cultural impact of the star-emblazoned helmet.

Netflix’s Head of Sports Documentaries, Carla Ruiz, said in a statement, “The Dallas Cowboys have long captured the imagination of football fans across the world. With The Underdog, we wanted to show the heart, grit, and humanity behind the myth — and challenge everything you think you know about this team.”

Early buzz around the project suggests The Underdog could become one of Netflix’s biggest sports documentary releases to date, following in the footsteps of successful series like The Last Dance and Quarterback.

The Underdog will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix beginning June 15.
