Saturday, April 13, at 1 PM ET, is the annual Orange & White Spring Game for Tennessee football. All the information you want concerning the spring game is provided here. With only 10,000 seats available this year, the stadium will appear slightly different, but it won’t stop the Vols from entertaining the Vol supporters.

As he begins his fourth season as Tennessee’s head coach, Josh Heupel is getting ready for his third quarterback to take over as the team’s leader. The most attention will be on Nico Iamaleava as he gets ready to take over as Tennessee’s starting quarterback full-time. Nico hasn’t given us much to look forward to, but the Vols’ 35-0 Citrus game gave us a taste of what’s to come.

It will be intriguing to watch how each position group gels with fresh faces throughout the offense and defense because that was the last time we saw Nico and the majority of the returning Vols. A number of outstanding videos and statements from athletes on first-year transfers and freshmen outperforming expectations during spring camp have also been observed.

This has generated discussion about those players on VolTwitter (VolX?) and Vol Nation. Nico will be the star player, although this list won’t really highlight him. Watch out for Nico, as everyone knows, but who else should you watch out for? As the Vols prepare for their yearly intrasquad scrimmage, here are some freshmen and first-year transfers you should watch out for.

Mike Matthews is a four-star prospect out of high school who reports to spring camp. It appears that his early enrollment in the program this spring is paying dividends. The 180-pound, 6-foot-1 receiver has won accolades from both program participants and outside observers.

Dont’e Thornton didn’t take long to see Matthews’ explosiveness as a receiver. His competitive fire and ability to extend the field will make him successful—or, as Thornton put it, unstoppable. Earlier last month, Thornton described him as “very explosive.” “Once he gets the speed of the game and then learns the playbook, he’s going to be unstoppable.”
