BREAKING: The Las Vegas Raiders shouldn’t select a quarterback higher in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders shouldn’t select a quarterback higher in the 2024 NFL Draft.

There are rumors going around the NFL that the Las Vegas Raiders intend to move up in the draft to choose a player. It appears as though the Raiders are keeping an eye on Jayden Daniels, since the draft is just two weeks away. Here’s why moving up for a quarterback in this year’s draft is not a smart move for Las Vegas.

The Raiders are in the middle of a total organizational makeover. The Raiders parted ways with quarterback Derek Carr during the previous offseason, and they dismissed head coach Josh McDaniels in the middle of the 2023 campaign. After then, Antonio Pierce led the team in an acting capacity for the balance of the 2023 campaign. The Raiders had a dismal first half of the season before Pierce arrived and gave them new life.

With a 5-4 record during the final nine weeks of the season, the Raiders and Peirce concluded with an overall record of 8-9. In the offseason, Antonio Pierce was named the Las Vegas Raiders’ new head coach. Pro players such as Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby expressed their desire to have Pierce lead them as head coach.

Although they didn’t make many offseason acquisitions, Las Vegas did make a few significant additions. Josh Jacobs, the running back, was allowed to go free, but Alexander Mattison was added in an attempt to take his position. In order to partner with Maxx Crosby, they also signed defensive tackle Christan Wilkins. Following Jimmy Garoppolo’s release, quarterback Gardner Minshew was signed by the Raiders.

For the Raiders in 2023, rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell started most of the team’s games. O’Connell demonstrated that he could be a respectable starting quarterback in the NFL if the correct guys were surrounding him. O’Connell completed his passing for almost 2,200 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in ten games.

Gardner Minshew was also signed by the Las Vegas Raiders. In his brief career, Minshew has demonstrated success everywhere he has gone. After spending his first two seasons as a player with Jacksonville, Minshew moved to Philadelphia as a backup and eventually joined the Colts in 2023. Although Minshew was supposed to be the Colts’ backup, he started in place of Anthony Richardson due to an injury. Minshew left Indianapolis after throwing for more over 3,300 yards in the previous season.
