Louis Rees-Zammit will be able to socialize with Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes of the NFL after joining the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 23-year-old sprinter, who shocked everyone by resigning from the Rugby Union in January, showed promise while he was recently on the NFL’s international player route.

His decision to leave the 15-man game just before Wales’ Six Nations campaign was made with the intention of pursuing his NFL goal, and he has quickly ascensioned from there.

Scouts were drawn to Rees-Zammit’s stats during the player pathway program; he was expected to play wide receiver and running back in the NFL.

“The Kansas City Chiefs made an international splash on Friday with the addition of former European rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit to the roster,” the team stated on their official website.

The previous Gloucester finisher stated in a video released by the Chiefs on X, formerly Twitter, that he had “just signed and can’t wait to go.” The finisher has met with other NFL teams, including the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Denver Broncos.

Rees-Zammit will now be focused on securing a position on the Chiefs’ final roster for the next season, hoping to play next to Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

“Rees-Zammit participated in the international player pathway program workout earlier this month, which gave the former rugby star an opportunity to show NFL scouts what he could do,” the back-to-back Super Bowl champions continued.”During his workout, he performed a 40-yard sprint in 4.44 seconds, good for fifth place among tailbacks at the 2024 NFL scouting combine.”
