I’m leaving AC Milan for  Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori Announce His Decision

Rafael Leao’s performance in the first half of the 2023–24 season was not indicative of who he is; although his assist total increased, his goal total fell short of what AC Milan had previously seen from him. But as of early 2024, it appears he is back to his best—or very nearly so.

Leao scored on Thursday night in Portugal’s 5-2 triumph over Sweden, which is an amazing accomplishment considering he only played 45 minutes. He left the Portugal camp early for rotational reasons, which included wanting to get more rest given his hectic schedule, so he won’t get the chance to improve his record internationally.

Milan will have welcomed his international stint with open arms for a number of reasons. First of all, given the importance of some of the next games, the fact that he has returned healthy and ahead of schedule is a huge plus. What matters more, though, is that he scored a fantastic goal to carry over his club form to the National Team. Although his goals and assists have improved recently, which is a good thing in and of itself, MilanNews notes that he is still among the greatest in the world for his position because of his restored consistency.
