Great lost: TCU quarterback Josh Hoover will miss spring football due to an injury.

Josh Hoover, the quarterback for TCU, will miss spring football due to an injury.

Josh Hoover, the starting quarterback for TCU, will not be present at spring training camp, the Star-Telegram discovered on Monday. Although Hoover’s ailment was not mentioned, a school spokeswoman stated that the Horned Frogs anticipate having him back for summer practices in July. It’s unfortunate for Hoover, who was looking to improve on a redshirt freshman season in which, following Chandler Morris’s injury against Iowa State, he showed promise as TCU’s quarterback of the future. Hoover passed for 2,206 yards, 15 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and two running touchdowns in six games.

Hoover’s injury will prevent him from participating in spring practice, which starts on Saturday, giving Hauss Hejny and Ken Seals extra reps. Seals spent many seasons at Vanderbilt starting in the SEC before being acquired by TCU via the transfer portal. Hejny was a four-star quarterback from neighboring Aledo who was regarded as one of the top prospects in TCU’s 2024 recruiting class. Having guided the Bearcats to a consecutive second 5A Division I state title, Hejny was named the Star-Telegram Offensive Player of the Year. Hejny, a dual-threat quarterback, finished his high school career with 30 wins in a row. The Horned Frogs will play their spring game at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday, April 27.
