Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland announced the signing of goaltender Connor Ungar of two-year contract

Goalie Connor Ungar has joined the Edmonton Oilers on a two-year, entry-level deal, the team announced on Monday. Ken Holland, general manager and president of hockey operations, made the announcement.

The 22-year-old, who played in 26 games for Brock University in USports, finished his season with a 20-6-0 record, 2.15 goals against average, and a.932 save %. Ungar earned a berth on the OUA West First All-Star Team and the OUA West All-Rookie Team, set a new school record most victories in a season, and was named the OUA West Goaltender of the Year and OUA West Rookie of the Year. Ungar assisted the Badgers in getting to the Ungar as the eighth seed in the 2024 University Cup competition, where they were defeated by the University of New Brunswick Reds, the 2024 Champions.

After making appearances with the Northern Alberta X-Treme Prep team in the CSSHL and the Okotoks Oilers in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), where he posted a 1-1-0 record as a 16-year-old before making the jump to the WHL, Ungar was undrafted in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and signed a WHL contract with the Brandon Wheat Kings during the 2018–19 season. Ungar had a 53-20-2 record, 2.57 goals against average, and a.917 save percentage in 87 appearances over the course of five WHL seasons with the Wheat Kings, Red Deer Rebels, and Moose Jaw Warriors. He also had a 6-4-2 record in 14 WHL postseason games.

Ungar will be under the direction of the Bakersfield Condors, Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate. In the Pacific Division, the Condors are ranked sixth.
