Williams was a member of the Auburn football coaching staff from 2019 to 2023, during which he briefly filled the role of interim head coach in 2022. However, he announced his resignation earlier this year.
The Atalla native Williams played running back for Auburn from 2001 to 2004 and then spent seven years in the NFL before starting his coaching career at Henderson State in 2015. Williams will be an NFL coach for the first time this season.
