Jayson Tatum Reacts to Boston Celtics’ Trade With Memphis Grizzlies

A deal was arranged between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Boston Celtics. Forward Lamar Stevens was traded from Boston to Memphis as part of the deal that brought Xavier Tillman from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum opened up to media about his genuine thoughts about the loss of Stevens and the gap it creates in the locker room.

Tatum stated that he was “losing a key guy to our team,” according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “Even though he might not have played as much, everyone adored Lamar because of his amazing demeanor and dedication to his craft. It was hard to discover he had been exchanged when I woke up from my snooze today. Seeing as he’s not here, the locker room did feel a little empty today.”

This is the area of trading that isn’t often taken into account. Even though Stevens didn’t play much for Boston, people still adored him as a teammate, which makes transactions like these difficult. However, Tatum and the Boston core are aware that trades involving cherished teammates are a normal part of the business and that this is not the first time it has happened.

From a basketball standpoint, Boston’s decision makes sense. The versatile forward Tillman can add a lot of depth to Boston’s front court. The Celtics can never have too much depth up front because of the aging of Al Horford and the injury concerns surrounding Kristaps Porzingis.
