Ozzie Albies suffers injury, fractures ...

The second baseman for the Atlanta Braves, who has seen his share of serious injuries this season, has persevered and declared himself to be in excellent performance shape.

With forearm neuritis, Max Fried, the ace of the Atlanta Braves, who is less than half a season away from free agency, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday. This might be concerning for a team beset by ailments. And second baseman Ozzie Albies broke his left wrist trying to lay a tag in the ninth inning of the Braves’ 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Sunday that Fried, 30, told the Braves he had some discomfort during his Tuesday warm-up for his All-Star Game appearance, but it went away and he pitched a scoreless inning.

Fried, however, notified the team and had an MRI as well as other testing done when the discomfort came back on Friday. Snitker informed reporters that while the MRI showed nerve irritation, it did not disclose any tissue damage.
