Max Verstappen was missing from Team Redline’s lineup announcement, having indicated on the Thursday of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix that he was not yet sure if he would participate during what would be a busy weekend anyway.

When pressed on Thursday of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend if he would be competing in the virtual Spa 24 Hours, Max Verstappen was non-commital.

The Red Bull driver, who will start third at the Hungaroring, felt the schedule was a little too busy to fully commit to joining his Team Redline colleagues, but ultimately, the triple world champion did his shift.

However, as Piastri fought his way into the lead, Verstappen was forced to use the run-off. A few laps later, Verstappen would give Norris back P2, while Norris was momentarily dropped to P4 behind Lewis Hamilton before regaining the lead around Turn 3.

Though Norris was briefly dropped to P4 behind Lewis Hamilton, he managed to regain the lead into Turn 3, and Verstappen would give P2 back to Norris a few laps later. However, Piastri’s surge into the lead forced Verstappen to take the run-off.
