Very sad to hear that West Indies skipper Rovman Powell was involved in a car accident a few minutes ago that may have ended his career.
West Indies saw a decline in performance against South Africa and England following an amazing start to the tournament. They finished first in Group D with all eight points from four games and looked like a strong contender for the trophy going into the Super Eights. They lost out on a semi-final spot as a result.
Following a brilliant first-round performance in which they won all four of their matches to lead Group D and establish themselves as a viable title contender going into the Super Eights, West Indies had a decline in performance against South Africa and England. Their semi-final spot was lost as a result.
Despite this setback, captain Powell is pleased with the way the team performed during the year, climbing the ladder to third place in the ICC Men’s T20 International Team Rankings in June 2024 (a recent defeat caused them to drop a spot).
