‘What’s the hold up?’ – Jamie Carragher questions Premier League over Everton’s appeal to overturn 10-point deduction

In November, the Toffees received a 10-point deduction for violating the profit and sustainability regulations of the Premier League. Everton declared that the ruling was “wholly disproportionate and unjust” and that they would file an appeal. The Merseyside group has not received a response to their appeal in months after the announcement, and Carragher has questioned the hold-up.

JAMIE CARRAGHER’S WHAT SAID Carraher posted on X, asking: “What is the status of the appeals court’s ruling on Everton’s 10-point deduction? Since two weeks have gone, Everton and the surrounding clubs must act quickly. By now, both they and the PL must be aware of their choice.

“Are the PL waiting until after Everton’s home game on Monday because they fear the reaction?”  Everton is presently one point from safety in 18th place in the table as they wait for the verdict. Their efforts to avoid relegation may be greatly aided if they are able to have their 10-point deduction lowered. The Toffees might, however, be subject to yet another point deduction, which would send them even farther down the drain.

Later this month, Sean Dyche’s lowly Everton, who take on fellow Premier League struggling team Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday, is expected to find out if their appeal was successful.
