(AP) STORRS, Conn. After Connecticut’s most recent NCAA championship run, Stephon Castle, a freshman at UConn, has decided to at least consider entering the NBA draft, making him the sixth starting Husky to do so.
Following ESPN’s initial story, UConn and head coach Dan Hurley verified the decision on social media on Friday.

In his lone season as a Husky, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while frequently taking defensive assignments to stop the opposition’s best perimeter player.
During the Final Four, he was even more outstanding, scoring 21 points against Alabama in UConn’s semifinal victory and 15 points against Purdue in the national championship game.
After his freshman year, Castle becomes just the second player from UConn to enter the draft, following Andre Drummond, who was chosen ninth overall by the Pistons in 2012.
Alex Karaban, a forward for UConn, declared for the draft the day before Karaban’s declaration, although he stated he would not forfeit his NCAA eligibility, allowing him to make a final choice following his pre-draft workouts.
