The news broke during Tuesday’s spring practice when the skilled playmaker suffered a lower body injury.
Hale, a Longview, Texas native, caught five receptions as a freshman in 2023, including a touchdown reception of 33 yards.
He possesses explosiveness, big-play ability, routes, and speed. The 6-foot-1, 189-pounder helped the Crimson Tide win the Southeastern Conference championship last season, but he will miss the rest of spring practice. Marquis Maze, a former Alabama receiver, understands how stressful it is for elite athletes to suffer injuries. He sustained an injury during the 2012 BCS National Championship Game (2011 season) against Louisiana State University. The mishap occurred during a punt return, when Maze hurt his hamstring and had to pull up and out of bounds. He was in a position to demolish the Tigers and have a solid Senior Bowl performance, but Maze was forced to watch Alabama defeat LSU 21-0, and his NFL future did not materialize.
Maze, a previous two-time BCS National Champion, is upset about Hale’s injuries. He considers the sophomore a superstar and wishes him a full recovery. Maze feels Hale is a terrific talent who will bounce back stronger than before.
Hale will be in excellent hands with Jeff Allen, the Crimson Tide’s chief team doctor.
Maze ranked Hale as Alabama’s breakout player of the year. Hopefully, the Tide will have him this autumn.
