The San Francisco 49ers anticipate that in 2025, Brock Purdy will reverse the QB contract market.
In the NFL right now, Brock Purdy has the best deal value. Although the veteran minimum salary of $1.21 million for Russell Wilson is an incredible deal, the San Francisco 49ers will pay their starting quarterback even less in 2024—$1.004 million.
In addition, Purdy has a contract that expires in 2025 for a meager $1.11 million. But after that, having a highly effective rookie quarterback on a 49ers deal will no longer be advantageous.
Even though Purdy’s deal might not expire until the end of the 2025 campaign, the 49ers will undoubtedly want to prevent a situation where their franchise quarterback hits the open market in free agency, a la Kirk Cousins.
