Detroit Lions in Agreement with Denver Broncos to sign QB Jarrett Stidham on a one year deal worth $23.4million
The Detroit Lions have signed and re-signed players in free agency for the most part of March, but they haven’t yet extended the contract of any player who is presently in contact. Although neither quarterback Jared Goff nor wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown have reached a long-term agreement, we do know that the Lions have started negotiations.
Coach Dan Campbell stated that the organization is still focused on extending those two, and conversations are still going on, during the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday.
“Those are the top priorities. Yes, they are priorities, according to Campbell. “Certainly there are conversations being had, but I won’t get into those.”
Brad Holmes, the general manager, did not provide an update on how those discussions were going. Holmes, though, stated that they weren’t in a rush back at the NFL Combine, adding that a roster bonus for Goff that was due in early March wasn’t seen as a deadline.
Holmes remarked, “We haven’t really taken that into account when making decisions.” “We’re moving in the right direction, and as I’ve said before, we’ll make sure you guys know as soon as we have updates.”
Having said that, it appears the Lions are making an effort to move forward since they apparently spoke with St. Brown’s representative at the Combine.
Goff and St. Brown are about to reach the last year of their contracts. Being a Day 3 draft pick, the Lions receiver is hoping to make a big splash after signing a low-end rookie contract. Conversely, Goff is entering the last year of a four-year, $134 million contract he had with the Los Angeles
