Breaking News : Ryan Day reacts after Ohio State football terminate contract of assistant…

Ohio State football lost a long-tenured assistant coach to its archrival before spring practice began, when former running backs coach Tony Alford left for the same position at Michigan, and Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day has responded. Day revealed that he learned about Alford’s departure from the program last week and that he will personally teach the team’s running backs until he finds a successor, which he says will not be rushed. “We’re into the process of identifying replacements,” Day went on to say.

“[I’m] excited about the group that we’ve already identified, and we want to be thorough in the process. I believe the good news is that we don’t have to make a rapid decision based on recruiting, the portal, or anything else.” He said: “I didn’t know for sure until I was told, but now the focus is about trying to find the right person.”

Ohio State is expected to have one of college football’s best running back tandems this season, as the team retained leading rusher TreVeyon Henderson, who ran for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns last year, while also adding former Ole Miss back Quinshon Judkins, who led the SEC in rushing the previous two seasons. “I think it’s the best running back room in the country, right now,” he added, “and I think it’s an exciting job, and the candidate pool’s been excellent.”
