Breaking: Caitlin Clark Effect” is facing its greatest obstacle yet since Iowa is stuck in a terrible March Madness location.

The “Caitlin Clark Effect” is facing its greatest obstacle yet since Iowa is stuck in a terrible March Madness location.

Unsurprisingly, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa women’s basketball team will play in front of a sell-out crowd during the first and second rounds of March Madness. In less than 30 minutes on Sunday night, all of the Hawkeyes supporters’ tickets to the two NCAA Tournament games were snapped up.

It was another outstanding performance by one of the nation’s most fervent fan communities.

On Saturday, Iowa will play U.T. Martin or Holy Cross in a game that is sure to be won. Soon after the bracket was revealed, Mountaineers head coach Mark Kellogg called out the best scorer in college basketball history. On Monday, it will play either Princeton or West Virginia.

No matter how things go out, the Hawkeyes will have sold out 34 games this year after their opening two NCAA Tournament games. Two of their scheduled games that were not sold out occurred during a Thanksgiving tournament in Florida.

But if they make it there, the winning streak (as well as the home-court advantage) is probably going to stop during the second weekend.

In Albany, New York, Iowa will compete in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Fans from Iowa City will not find that trip easy. Fans who don’t reside in New England will find the trip challenging. Even so…

Even with the challenging circumstances, Caitlin Clark anticipates no problems in attracting fans. In The Athletic, she posed a challenge to the devoted supporters of the Hawkeyes.
