Latest news: George Russell welcome Max Verstappen to Mercedes…..

Max Verstappen joining George Russell on the Mercedes squad is something he has expressed excitement about.

The scandal surrounding Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has cast doubt on Verstappen’s future there, interrupting his three-time Formula One champion career. A female Red Bull employee had recently cleared Horner of all charges against him; nevertheless, a day later, leaked communications purportedly including correspondence between Horner and the unidentified lady were discovered by F1 figures.

Jos. Verstappen Sr. was incensed by it, saying the championship team would “explode” unless Horner resigned as manager. In Bahrain, the former Formula One driver was also observed conversing with Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes team, allegedly regarding his son’s unexpected transfer to the rival team.

Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull that expires in 2028. Russell, a 26-year-old driver for Mercedes’ No. 2 team, has acknowledged that it would be “exciting” to start beside the Dutchman, given that Lewis Hamilton would be switching to Ferrari at the end of 2024.

“This is my third season with Lewis, the greatest of all time,” Russell remarked. “I think I’ve done a pretty good job with him.” I would therefore welcome the challenge from whoever were to line up beside me.

“You wish to defy the most experienced. Though I am concentrating on myself, I think I can outperform everyone on the grid. Lewis has been a great benchmark for me, without a doubt.
