James Garner admits Everton’s appeal against the Premier League’s 10-point deduction has been ‘playing on his mind’ – with midfielder ‘waiting’ for verdict amid their relegation battle

The wait to find out if their appeal against a 10-point deduction was successful has affected the players at Everton.

With a 1-1 draw at home against Crystal Palace on Monday night, Sean Dyche’s team was able to climb out of the bottom three on goal differential; but, if they hadn’t been fined for violating Premier League profit and sustainability regulations, they would have finished in 12th place.

This week’s decision on Everton’s appeal is anticipated. James Garner, a midfielder, is open enough to admit that situations beyond their control affect them, even if most athletes pretend they don’t.

It’s something that particularly interests me, he remarked. “I will be waiting for that whenever it comes in, because we would be much higher in the league table without the 10-point deduction.”

We were aware that the match against Palace wouldn’t be simple, but in my opinion, it has gotten away from us.

“That evening was incredibly frustrating.” The 22-year-old Garner has been a standout player for Everton this year and has been linked to an England call-up.

However, the team’s performance versus Palace as a whole prompted some jeers at Goodison, which he made little attempt to avoid.
