LATEST NEWS: Leeds United entertain Leicester City on Friday night looking to cut the gap on the Championship leaders down to six points

Harry Wiks issues Leeds United warning as Leicester City seek to deliver Championship statement

Harry Winks, a midfielder for Leicester City, has issued a challenge to his teammates to resume winning ways when they play Leeds United this week, a competition for promotion. With Middlesbrough’s unexpected 2-1 victory at King Power Stadium, the leaders’ lead at the top was reduced to nine points.

Finn Azaz and Sammy Silvera’s goals in the first half gave Boro the league victory over the Foxes. The fight for automatic promotion is heating up as United wins all three points away from Plymouth Argyle.

On Friday, City travels to Elland Road in an attempt to resume their title push. Former Tottenham midfielder Winks commented, “They’re a good side and it’s another big game for us to go out and make a statement,” about the possibility of playing the Whites.

“Perhaps we can close the deficit with three more points. We fully understand that this is a difficult game, but for the time being, we must move on and concentrate on the next one. We cannot ponder on this.

“The outcome has occurred. It is beyond our power to alter. Right now, Leeds is all that matters, so we must ensure that we approach it with the appropriate mindset and attitude.”
