Roy Hodgson leaves Crystal Palace with new manager Oliver Glasner set to join on permanent deal

Steve Parish, the Eagles’ chairman, took the decision despite the team’s five-point lead over the relegation zone in 15th place because he fears they could be drawn into the scrap.

In March 2023, the 76-year-old took over as Palace’s manager for the second time on a temporary basis, taking over from Patrick Vieira. After leading them to 11th position in the 2023–24 season, he was retained, but he had a challenging campaign, winning just six of the 24 games.

Following additional testing in the hospital, Hodgson was deemed “stable” by the Premier League team following his illness on Thursday during training. As a result, prior to Monday night’s game at Everton, Palace canceled Hodgson’s planned pre-match press conference.
