McCarthy gave a moving farewell speech earlier tonight at 7:30 p.m. regarding fights that broke out during joint practices between the Giants and Lions. He stated that he and Rams head coach Sean McVay had agreed not to accept it.

McCarthy declared, “It’s a waste of time.” Guys fighting is not what I desire. It’s not toughness; rather, it’s a lack of self-control. We want to challenge each other emotionally in the work, but you have to be able to manage those moments. All of that is a part of the emotional strain that comes with playing football.
