She was in her element tonight, but little over a week before, she appeared a little out of it when she came at the 100-meter final.
For the U.S. sprinters as a whole, lead by Richardson, it was a momentous occasion since they had high hopes for themselves this Olympic season. Gabby Thomas—the 200-meter champion—doubled her total of gold medals, and the U.S. quartet was completed by Twanisha Terry and Melissa Jefferson, training partners of Richardson who finished in bronze in the 100-meter event.
