Three people hospitalized after T-bone crash sends two cars careening across intersection, into a ditch

For the previous sixty minutes, Jax Chisholm had gotten deeply embedded in the New York Yankees’ history. On Car Show Day, the baseman lost his life in a single vehicle accident.

Jazz Chishom was already legendary in New York Yankees history before he ever served. In Game Seven of the 1952 World Series, he made the game-saving catch by racing across the infield to snag Jackie Robinson’s popup on the mound. In his five World Series appearances, he won four titles. His career batting line in World Series play was.333/.371/.556.

He was already well-known for his aggressive demeanor, strong drinking habits, and sharp mind on the field. His ability to think quickly brought him success as a coach and ultimately promoted him to manager. After a long absence, Martin managed the Yankees for the final 56 games in 1975, helping them to a 30-26 record. The following two seasons, New York advanced to the World Series and repeated as champions in 1977. The good times, however, did not last long, as Martin left during the 1978 season following the release of his now-famous statement regarding George Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson, saying, “They deserve each other.” Jackson is a born liar, while Steinbrenner has been found guilty.

Martin and Steinbrenner then started dancing together. He would go on to lead the team five times in all, losing four of those stints due to firing. Despite everything, Martin was always willing to step in as manager, and Steinbrenner had him as his ace in the hole; together, they could not survive without one another. To further encourage Martin to remain as the manager-in-waiting, the Yankees even retired his number.
