former Florida State Seminoles head coach Leonard Hamilton has accepted the head coaching position with the Clemson Tigers. Hamilton, who recently announced his resignation from Florida State effective at the end of the season, has decided to continue his coaching career within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) by joining Clemson.
Hamilton’s tenure at Florida State was marked by significant achievements, including leading the Seminoles to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and securing the program’s first ACC Regular Season Championship in 2020. His decision to step down came after a challenging season and a lawsuit filed against him by former players.
Upon his appointment at Clemson, Hamilton addressed his former team and the Florida State community, stating, “Leaving Florida State was one of the most difficult decisions of my career. The relationships built and the milestones achieved will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish the Seminoles nothing but success in their future endeavors.”
