Matt Luke, former head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, has recently joined the Clemson Tigers’ coaching staff. In a heartfelt message to the Ole Miss community, Luke expressed his enduring gratitude and affection for the institution and its supporters.
Reflecting on his tenure at Ole Miss, Luke acknowledged the challenges faced during his leadership, including NCAA sanctions and program rebuilding efforts. In a 2018 press conference, Luke passionately stated, “Over the last few years, this program has been through a lot… We will win here.”
Luke’s deep-rooted connection to Ole Miss is well-known; he played as an offensive lineman for the Rebels in the 1990s, and both his father and brother also donned the Ole Miss uniform. This familial bond has always fueled his dedication to the program. Upon being named the permanent head coach in 2017, Luke remarked, “Ole Miss is a destination job… It’s not just my dream job, it’s a destination job.”
