“He suffered from cold and perhaps shock, but he remained at the scene and assisted us greatly,” he stated.
“We’ve been able to provide him with support services, but from what I understand, he also has a large support system at his disposal.
“There were some more people nearby but they didn’t actually witness it, so at the time there were not a lot of people at the waterfall.”
The bodies were recovered at roughly 12:15 p.m., at which point search teams stood down.
The locals, according to Inspector Smith, were close-knit and “very proud of its natural resources and particularly the falls”.
