With a “I do have Covid” statement, Lyles affirmed the news. Tuesday morning, at around five in the morning, my test came back positive. My throat hurt and I had shivers when I woke up in the middle of the night.

The American tested positive on Tuesday morning, but he proceeded through the 200-meter preliminaries with success and chose to compete in the final on Thursday night, losing to Letsile Tebogo of Botswana.
Lyles, 27, was wheeled off the course in a wheelchair and was observed sitting on a chair shortly after the race.
Lyles declared, “I do have Covid,” confirming the information. Around five in the morning on Tuesday, I tested positive. I had severe chills and a sore throat when I woke up in the middle of the night.
