“Tony Stewart Breaks Silence on Eldora Speedway Sale Rumors: Here’s the Truth”

Recent speculations in the NASCAR community that Tony Stewart had sold Eldora Speedway have been debunked by the Cup Series team owner. Stewart bought the famous dirt track from its original owner and builder in 2004 during his early NASCAR career. Stewart has owned the half-mile-long circuit since his retirement from full-time stock car racing in 2016, and he has taken an active role in maintaining the renowned track.

Following the recent announcement that Cup Series team Stewart-Haas Racing would be closing its doors at the highest level of the sport, Tony Stewart made it clear that his ownership of Eldora Speedway is not for sale. In an interview with Floracing, he explained, “I don’t know who was really bored and thought they would play a nice practical joke at home, but this track is not sold and it is not for sale.”

Stewart mentioned knowing the original builders and prior owners of the dirt oval, saying, “This is a tradition with Earl and Bernice that they began back in 1954, and we’re happy to be the proprietors of this race track. It is something we are very passionate about.

Trust me, when my phone started blowing up yesterday, I was not pleased.” Eldora Speedway hosts one of the country’s most prominent dirt racing events on its half-mile track. The grassroots facility hosts events such as Dirt Late Model Dream, the World 100, and The Joker’s Wild.

Tony Stewart mourns the demise of one of Eldora Speedway’s long-time employees

Stewart was also seen lately lamenting the death of one of Eldora Speedway’s longtime employees who witnessed the facility’s evolution over the years. The death of Jerry Gappens, general manager of the half-mile-long dirt track, spurred Stewart to discuss his influence on the facility.

“@EldoraSpeedway has lost one of the best persons to grace the facility. He was a mentor and friend who got along well with our personnel, race teams, and race spectators. He was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed.”

The Eldora Speedway is preparing to host the 30th Dirt Late Model Dream this week.
