Owner of Formula One (F1), Liberty Media (FWONK), wants to grow its presence in motorsports and lend the MotoGP World Championship’s ownership rights.

Liberty said that it will buy Dorna Sports from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the private equity firm Bridgepoint for 4.2 billion euros, or $4.5 billion. Liberty now owns an 86% share in MotoGP, with the management company holding a 14% stake.
