The Leconte Hotel  caught fire and Convention Center was momentarily evacuated this afternoon due to a minor fire, as reported by Chief Tony Watson of the Pigeon Forge Fire Department.

Watson stated that the fire originated from a heat and air unit located on the fourth floor. Prior to 911 receiving a call, a Pigeon Forge police officer who was driving by noticed the fire and reported it.

According to Pigeon Forge incident Department Chief Tony Watson, there was a minor incident this afternoon that caused the Leconte Hotel to catch fire and the Convention Center to be temporarily evacuated.

Watson said that a heat and air unit on the fourth floor was the source of the incident. Before the Pigeon Forge police received a call, one of their officers saw the fire and reported it while driving by.
