‘A little bit desperate’ – fumes at Max Verstappen move
“He doesn’t need to be. He has plenty of wins. I expect a fair, respectful on-the-edge bit of racing and I don’t feel that’s what I got.”
Once a brutal race for the win at the Austrian Grand Prix ended in a crash that terminated both of their races, Lando Norris accused his friend and current closest opponent, Max Verstappen, of unfair driving that was “just a bit reckless” and “a little bit desperate.”
When defending his position in the last laps, Norris thought Verstappen had repeatedly moved under braking, frustrating the Red Bull driver who was battling the world champion for the lead.
With the Miami Grand Prix in early May, the two have emerged as the dominant forces in Formula 1, but they had not challenged the lead wheel-to-wheel on the track until this past weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
