PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — july 10 UPDATE: Jeremy Hanes Jr., 31, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away following a collision on Thursday during Rod Run, according to the Pigeon Forge Police Department.
A passenger opened the door of a truck that had stopped at a red light, according to the police department. According to the report, Hanes Jr. crashed into the door while riding an electric scooter north on the Parkway, in the space between the sidewalk and the white line.
Jeremy claims that on Thursday, April 18, while riding scooters with his son, he was requested to relocate from the sidewalk onto the road by law officers. Afterwards, they drifted apart.
“My son was involved in an accident, and I found out on my own when I went down the street and saw the scooter there and his hat lying on the ground. It was brought to my attention five minutes after he left me that night,” Jeremy stated.
The man was driving between the road and the sidewalk when he smashed his scooter into a car door that someone had opened at a red light, according to a statement made by the Pigeon Forge Police Department on Saturday, April 20. He went away.
