After covering Berube for his six seasons with the St. Louis Blues, I should be able to give you a pretty good preview. I was there when he reached the pinnacle with the team’s first Stanley Cup in 2019. And I was there when he was fired by the club in December.
In an attempt to break the NHL record for the longest current championship drought, the Toronto Maple Leafs have hired a former Stanley Cup winner.
Craig Berube was officially introduced by the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, after the team revealed on Friday that he had been hired as the 32nd coach of the team.
Sheldon Keefe, who was let go on May 9 following his fifth straight early playoff elimination, will be replaced by Berube. In December of his sixth season with the St. Louis Blues, Berube was let go.
