After careful consideration and much deliberation, I have decided to step down from my role as the Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, effective immediately.

This decision was not made lightly. Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to reflect on my time with this remarkable organization, and I have come to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of both myself and the team to take this step.

Coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs has been an immense privilege. This organization, with its storied history and passionate fan base, holds a special place in the world of hockey. Working with such talented players and dedicated staff has been an honor, and I am proud of the progress we have made together.

However, there are several factors that have influenced my decision to resign at this juncture. Firstly, I believe that for a team to reach its full potential, it sometimes requires new leadership and fresh perspectives. I have always put the team’s success above all else, and I truly believe that a new voice can help take the Leafs to the next level.

Secondly, the demands and pressures of this role are immense, and I have come to realize that stepping back will allow me to prioritize my health and well-being. Coaching at this level requires a tremendous amount of energy and dedication, and I feel it is the right time for me to recharge and focus on personal matters that I have neglected.

Lastly, I want to thank the management, my coaching staff, and the players for their unwavering support and commitment. The camaraderie and resilience within this team have been truly inspiring. I am confident that the Maple Leafs are on the cusp of achieving great things, and I will always be one of their biggest supporters.

To the fans, your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of motivation. The energy you bring to every game, home or away, is unparalleled, and it has been a privilege to be a part of that.
