JUST NOW: Caitlin Clark speaks up for the first time after being left off the Team USA basketball selection for the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris

Caitlin Clark, an Indiana Fever star, was left off the Team USA basketball selection for the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris, leaving supporters furious and many wondering why she was overlooked.

According to Christine Brennan of USA TODAY, Team USA was concerned about how Clark’s millions of supporters would respond to his “likely limited playing time on a stacked squad.”

The Team USA roster is without a doubt loaded, but Clark’s presence, even on the end of the bench, would undoubtedly fuel marketing around the premier global sporting event,

Instead, Clark will be at home this summer, taking a mid-season Olympic break from the WNBA to relax and cheer on the players that made the roster.

Clark tied his career high with 30 points in Friday night’s victory over the winless Washington Mystics. In her first WNBA season, she is averaging 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting 37.3% from the floor.

The Fever play the Connecticut Sun again on Monday, hoping for their fourth win of the season.
