She’s doing something wrong… Angel-Reese outlines what the Indiana Fever is not doing, which is causing the club to lose games

“It’s not because of one person. “Many of us have done so much for this game,” added Reese.

Angel Reese wants women’s basketball fans to know that she and her colleagues contributed to the sport’s growing popularity.

In an interview with media on Monday, June 3, the WNBA star discussed the Chicago Sky’s loss to the Indiana Fever on Saturday, June 1, as well as Caitlin Clark’s impact on the league.

“I believe a lot of people are following women’s basketball right now. It all started with the national championship game, and I’ve been dealing with it for two years now, so I recognize that, yes, awful things have been said about me. But, honestly, I’ll take it because of where women’s basketball is now,” she remarked.

“People are discussing women’s basketball in ways you wouldn’t expect. People are showing up for games. “We’ve had celebrities come to games and sold-out arenas all because of one game,” Reese added. “And just looking at it, I’m going to take that part. I’ll play the bad guy and continue to do so for my teammates, and I’m confident I’ll go down in history.

“I’ll look back in 20 years and say, ‘Yeah, the reason we’re watching women’s basketball isn’t just because of one person; it’s also because of me, and I want you to understand that,'” Reese concluded. “As if it isn’t only because of one person. Many of us have done so much for this game.

The WNBA fined Reese $1,000 for “failing to make herself available to the media for interviews” following Saturday’s game, according to the Associated Press and The New York Times.

“In addition, the Sky organization has been penalized $5,000 for failing to guarantee that all players comply with WNBA media standards,” the league’s statement read, according to the publications. Along with Reese, her teammate Chennedy Carter’s foul for knocking Clark to the ground in the third quarter was elevated to a flagrant one violation.

Reese told reporters on Monday that she was “taking accountability.”

“That was something on my behalf that I couldn’t do at the time due to the timeframe, but [I’m] making sure that moving forward, I’ll make time for you guys,” she continued.
