Five-star quarterback Ty Simpson of the Alabama Crimson Tide declined offers from Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee in favor of playing collegiate football at Alabama. He ran for 311 yards and seven more scores in his junior year in addition to passing for 1,888 yards and 20 touchdowns. Simpson went to Westview High School and was reared in Martin, Tennessee.

After guiding Westview to the 2A Tennessee State Championship, Simpson completed 92 passes for 2,827 yards and 41 touchdowns against three interceptions. He also ran for 862 yards and 11 touchdowns. Simpson was chosen as Tennessee’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
