On 11 May 1985, the Bradford City stadium fire occurred during a Football  League Third Division match at the Valley Parade stadium in Bradford, West  Yorkshire, England, killing 56 spectators and injuring

Consequently, what happened? There have been multiple claims circulating that there is a fire in Istanbul near the stadium where Man City and Inter will play in the Champions League final shortly. Journalist Rory Smith tweeted that firefighters arrived on the location two hours prior to kickoff.

Numerous reports suggest that supporters have had difficulty navigating the stadium’s traffic, forcing some ticket holders to run great distances in order to arrive in time for kickoff.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: The air pollution does not yet seem to be a threat to the proceedings, but the smoke has moved to the ground prior to warm-ups.

Next? UEFA has not provided a statement regarding the matter, and there is currently no indication that the smoke is scheduled to interfere with the game’s original kick-off time. There was mayhem at the previous year’s final in Paris as well, and an independent investigation was conducted into how Liverpool and Real Madrid supporters were treated.
